GM has been working hard in two new cars to be launched this year in order to increase sales in the US. Next week, the new Cadillac XTS sedan will be revealed.
The Cadillac XTS, will be available for new customers as of spring of 2012, and aims to compete with the Audi 6 and Mercedes E Class.
According to Alan Baum, industry consultant at Baum & Associates in Michigan: “The luxury segments are very much dependent on new product, and Cadillac has kind of let itself get behind.” “They’ve been able to get by with it because SRX clearly has been very successful and they’ve done some variants on CTS.”
The manufacturer has yet to announce XTS price later on this month, but is confirmed that the car will be somewhat bigger than its competitors.

The futuristic GM and expected car has finally arrived in Central Illinois and it can currently be found in most car showrooms.
Fred Smith, a salesman for Uftring-Weston Chevrolet in the area mentioned: “GM started selling the Volt on the east and west coasts and in Texas. Now they’re expanding distribution. By 2012, they’ll be in all 50 states.”
Until last month, General Motors reports to have sold almost 4,000 Chevy Volts, low number for the expected 10,000 sale goal they had set for the first year. This also has to do with the fact that the car is still not available in many states.
On the other side of the world though, the Volt has recently arrived and according to Brian Dennison, manager of Dennison Chevrolet in Pekin: “There’s been a lot of interest, a lot of curiosity.” This dealership recently received two Volts to hold on to and show to customers for the next following months.
He adds: “(GM) wants people to have a chance to see it and touch it. It’s a very sophisticated car with a lot of technology.”
The GM model takes about 10 hours to recharge the battery on a 110 volt outlet and about only 4 in a 220 volt outlet. The generator uses 9.3 gallons of gas, which allows the consumer to drive more than 340 miles!

It is very good news for new car consumers to know that the average fuel economy in recent vehicles purchased has increased when compared to last year’s data.
According to TrueCar, September’s average miles per gallon for all vehicles sold, jumped to 22 miles per gallon from 21.4 when comparing to the same time of the year in 2010.
“ Hyundai and Nissan were the biggest gainers in average fuel economy gains this month,” explained Jesse Toprak, vice president of industry trends. He adds: “Some of the biggest gains came from light cars with almost a 10-percent increase in average fuel economy from cars sold in September.”
These changes manufacturers are making will definitely make a difference when buyers research for the ideal car. Better fuel economy, rebates, Black Friday and end of year’s best car deals, will certainly be appealing for many first time buyers too.

The notorious and luxurious Audi A6 has not only been redesigned this year but its price has been reduced to $41,700. The decision was made in order to obtain more sales in the US market and to better compete with long time rivals BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
The big manufacturer is making great efforts to reach the goal of 200,000 luxury car sales by 2018. Audi models currently represent about a quarter of Volkswagen’s sales in the U.S.
In 2010, Volkswagen ranked third right after Toyota and GM.
Audi has also invested time and resources in training their staff. About 850 dealer employees were taken to Volkswagen’s Headquarters in Germany for the special training. About 1,000 more employees in the United States have been to special sessions.

Earlier this month, GM’s North America President, Mark Reuss made official the news of two new Cadillac models to be launched next year: one that would replace the STS and DTS and a compact that would compete in the line of BMW 3 Series or Mercedes Benz C-Class.
Both models are expected to be launched in the first semester of 2012.
Out of all GM brands, Cadillac was the one most affected after the company filed out for bankruptcy in the past years. The manufacturer reported a 26% decrease in last month’s sales. This is clearly, a smart move to gain customers back by giving them brand new models with the good quality and style Cadillac has always have.
According to Reuss: “The XTS continues Cadillac’s heritage as the leader in large luxury cars, while the car we’ve codenamed ATS starts a new chapter for Cadillac in the luxury market’s C-segment. We’re confident it will attract luxury car buyers who previously would not have considered Cadillac.”
